Antonio Papisca

Antonio Papisca is Professor of International Protection of Human Rights, University of Padova; Ph.D (Libero Docente) in International Law; Jean Monnet Chair ad honorem; UNESCO Chair in Human Rights, Democracy and Peace; Director of the four-monthly Review 'Pace diritti umani/Peace human rights' (Marsilio Publishing, Venice).

Member of the Boards of the "European Union Review" and "Futuribili"; member of:  the Scientific Council of the 'Società Italiana per l'Organizzazione Internazionale', SIOI, Roma, the Human Rights Committee of the SIOI, Scientific Committee of the Intercultura Foundation,  the Scientific Committee of the Institute of International Sociology of Gorizia, the European University Council for the Action Jean Monnet (1990-...). Founding President of the "Associazione Universitaria di Studi Europei/University Association of European Studies", AUSE-ECSA Italy, (1989-1999), President of the European Community Studies Association, ECSA World (2002-2004), Founding President (1972) and Honorary President of the Istituto Superiore Europeo di Studi Politici, ISESP (European Institute of Higher Political Studies, Reggio Calabria).

In the University of Padova he was: Dean of the Faculty of Political Science (1980-1983); founding Director of the Department of International Studies (1986-1992), Founding Director of the Ph.D Course in International Relations (1985-1995), Founding Director of the Interdepartmental Centre on Human Rights and the Rights of Peoples (1982–2007), Founding Director of the Post-graduate Course on human rights and the rights of peoples (1985-2005), Founding Director of the Post-graduate School on Institutions and techniques for the protection of human rights (1988-2002), Founding Director of the European Master Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation, based in Venice (41 partners universities) (1997-2003). Teaching and lecturing in several universities in Italy and abroad. Coordinator of several national and international research projects.

Main research topics: world order issues, international and transnational democracy, human rights politics and institutions, european integration. He is currently working on 'City diplomacy', as a new frontier of multi-level good governance.
