The University of Padova, established in 1222, is one of the largest in Italy, with about 60,000 students. It has been delivering post-graduate interdisciplinary programmes in peace and human rights since 1988.
The HRG programme is supervised by the Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies and is part of the School of Economics and Political Science.
HRG is supported by the Human Rights Centre “Antonio Papisca” of the University of Padova. The Centre hosts the UNESCO Chair “Human Rights, Democracy and Peace”, the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence “Intercultural Dialogue, Human Rights and Multi-level Governance” and the Peace Human Rights Archive of the Region of Veneto.
It coordinates the International Joint Ph.D Programme “Human Rights, Society and Multi-level Governance”.
The Centre is founding member of the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC/Global Campus) and participates in the Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI).
