As part of the Jean Monnet program of the European Commission, the Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies of the University of Padua offers this Jean Monnet Module for the period 01/09/2016 – 31/08/2019 in its MA Programme “Human Rights and Multi-level Governance”. The Module is hosted in the Human Rights Centre “Antonio Papisca”.
Prof. Dr. Léonce Bekemans is the JM Module leader and coordinates the course activities in collaboration with the HR Centre and its international PhD programme. He is the titular of the Integrated course ‘Human Rights Governance” (12 ECTS) and teaches the Module B “Theory and Practice of MLG”. He is a Jean Monnet Chair ad personam at the University of Padua and academic coordinator of its Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, a formally acknowledged success story of the EU Jean Monnet programme and collaborator of the Human Rights Centre. He is a visiting professor at various European universities and collaborates in other JM projects and with various European and international organisations. He is also member of board of ECSA-World and president of “Europahuis Ryckevelde”, a not-for-profit organisation dealing with European citizenship in Bruges (B).
The Module consists in:
1) the Jean Monnet MA course “The Theory and Practice of Multi-level Governance”, an obligatory part of the fully English taught degree Programme “Human Rights and Multi-level Governance”;
2) the PhD seminar “Multi-level Governance in an interdisciplinary perspective”, part of the joint international PhD programme “Human Rights, Society and MLG”.
3) Publications resulting from the research developed in the framework of the programme.
The activities are hosted by the Human Rights Centre and held by Prof. Dr. Léonce Bekemans, Jean Monnet professor ad personam and titular of both JM activities.
