Closing ceremony of the first Course of Higher Education for experts in "Civic Education, human rights, citizenship, constitution", Monday 7 June 2010, Aula Nievo - Palazzo del Bo, University of Padua

The closing ceremony of the first Course of Higher Education for teachers experienced in "Civic education, human rights, citizenship, constitution" will take place on 7 June 2010 during the day, from 3-6 pm in the Aula Nievo of the University of Padua's Palazzo del Bo.

The inaugural lecture will be made by Ambassador Laura Mirachian, Head of the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations in Geneva.

Speaking at the ceremony will also be Carmela Palumbo, Director of the Regional Scholastic Office of the Veneto, Marialuisa Coppola, Councillor to Human Rights of the Region of Veneto, and Simonetta Fichelli of the Department for the Programming and Management of Human, Financial and Equipment Resources of the MIUR (Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca-Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research).

During the ceremony, there will be certificates of participation handed out to the student teachers of the first Course of Higher Education, and their edited publication, entitled "Preparatory Materials for the education of teachers of "Citizenship and Constitution in Upper Secondary Schools. Documents of workgroups", will be presented. The volume will be distributed to participants until available copies run out. The Course was organized by University of Padua's Interdepartmental Centre on Human Rights and the Rights of Peoples during the 2008/2009 academic year based on the fruitful and consolidated collaboration with the Regional Scholastic Office of the Veneto and the Local Government office for International relations and Human Rights of the Region of Veneto. The Course was among the activities scheduled by the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) of 14 February 2008 between the Interdepartmental Centre and the Regional Scholastic Office of the Veneto.

The Course of Higher Education was attended by 20 teachers from all provinces of the Veneto and from all types of secondary schools, and had 375 scheduled hours of comprehensive training, allotted based on nine teachings and intense seminar activity.

The didactic activity was conducted by Professors Antonio Papisca, Vincenzo Pace, Marco Mascia, Léonce Bekemnas, Paolo de Stefani, Paola Degani, Annalisa Pavan, Jacopo Tognon, and Amelia Goffi.
