International Cooperation Services (SISCOS) : publication of statistics on international cooperation operators in 2011

I Servizi per la Cooperazione Internazionale (International Cooperation Services - SISCOS) has published a statistical data about co-operators, volunteers, consultants, experts who worked over the period of year 2011 on various projects for development and humanitarian emergencies.

In 2011, SISCOS insured more than six thousand people who travelled into 130 foreign countries, maintaining at the same time a positive tendency from the last five years. Another one thousand people have been insured among foreign workers that came to Italy for cooperation activities. These data show that, despite of the crisis, international cooperation can be considered as a good work opportunity.

One of the interesting facts noticed by SISCOS is the growth of non-Italian citizens, mainly from Kenia, France, Spain and Argentina, who participate in cooperation projects in third countries. Among the destinations chosen by co-operators, the data confirm a predominance of the African continent. A substantial numerical parity between men and women employees is also noted.

International Cooperation Services (SISCOS) is a non-profit organization, established in 1988 which provides the organizations with security insurances, in order to protect those operating in difficult environmental, climatic and social conditions.
