On 4 July 2016 the Madrid-based foundation Cultura de paz launched the “Disarm for development” appeal, in line with the “Disarmament for development” initiative conducted by the International Peace Bureau.
The “Disarm for development” appeal is open for the subscription of all and calls for disarmament in order to reallocate resources from security to sustainable human development, coherently with the United Nations’ goals.
The first signatory of the appeal is the foundation’s president professor Federico Mayor Zaragoza, followed by professor Antonio Papisca from the University of Padova.
Professor Federico Mayor Zaragoza is a former director-general of UNESCO and the founder of foundation Cultura de paz.
