Italian Coalition for Civil Rights and Freedoms - Meeting in Rome of the Civic Solidarity Platform, 22nd November 2017

On the 22nd November 2017, the Italian Coalition for Civil Rights and Freedoms will organize a meeting in Rome in the context of the Civic Solidarity Platform (CSP) delegation visit to Italy in preparation for the next Italian Presidency of OSCE.

The meeting has been organized with the aim of sharing and comparing experiences of work and best practices with OSCE. Amongst the various activities of the meeting with Italian Civil Society organizations, there will be a "mini training" session on instruments and advocacy work potentiality with OSCE, organized by the 7 representatives of the CSP delegation. The activities will take place on the morning of the 22nd November (9.30-12.30 at Arci Nazionale).

The CSP is a network of 90 civil society organizations that are active in the promotion and defence of rights in the OSCE area. Their aim is to connect and reinforce action at a transnational level. Since 2016, the Italian Coalition for Civil Rights and Freedoms (CILD) has been the Italian referring body of the CSP. The CSP has been active for a long time in advocacy at the OSCE institutions and every year organizes its "Parallel Conference" within the OSCE Ministerial Conference, at the end of which it presents a Declaration to its representatives.  The CSP also promotes a process of self-evaluation for the countries in line for the presidency and - with the conviction that the presidency be a prestigious opportunity to put human rights at the centre of the international agenda - one of its priorities is to create synergy between civil society and their institutions.
