Call for Papers: 2025 AHRI Conference “Protecting Human Rights from Global Organized Crime”
-
Event date: Saturday 15 March 2025

The Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI) has announced the 2025 Annual Conference, which will be held for the first time in Latin America, specifically in Lima, Peru, from September 11-13, 2025. The event will be organized in collaboration with the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights of the PUCP (IDEHPUCP) and will also mark AHRI's 25th anniversary.
The central theme of the 2025 edition will be “Protecting Human Rights from the Global Spread of Organized Crime” and will provide an important opportunity to analyze the link between organized crime and human rights, outlining concrete strategies to counter this growing global threat. The goal is to bring together academics, human rights experts, activists, policymakers and industry leaders to discuss challenges and strategies in combating organized crime and its impact on the most vulnerable communities.
AHRI invites scholars and practitioners to submit panel or paper proposals on four main areas:
- Global Perspective on Organized Crime
- Legal frameworks and institutional responses
- Concrete actions to counter organized crime
- Human rights developments over the past 25 years and future challenges
Submissions (300-500 words) can be sent until March 15, 2025 to academica.idehpucp@pucp.edu.pe. Selected authors must submit the full paper by August 20, 2025.
The conference will be held in a hybrid mode, with the possibility of attending both in-person, on the campus of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), and online. Registration will open on May 15, 2025.
Further details on registration, program and scholarships can be found at the official event website.
