"Don't Forget Us Here: Lost and Found at Guantánamo" is a memoir published in 2021 by Mansoor Adayfi. At just 18 years old, Adayfi travelled to Afghanistan for research but never came back. He was abducted by Afghan warlords and subsequently handed over to U.S. forces following the September 11 attacks. Without formal charges, he was detained at Guantánamo Bay, where he was stripped of his identity and became known simply as Prisoner 441.
The memoir is composed of letters and manuscripts Adayfi wrote during his 14-year imprisonment and was able to send to his legal team. Through these writings, he recounts the harrowing experience of surviving Guantanamo for 14 years, until his release in 2016.
