Nominations invited for the Alexander Langer International Award 2025

The Alexander Langer Foundation has officially invited nominations for the International Alexander Langer Award 2025, an annual award for people and associations that embody and continue the civil, cultural and political commitment of Alexander Langer.

The prize aims to valorise independent and courageous voices, often little known, who work in difficult contexts to promote human rights, peace, democracy; who fight against discrimination and ethnic exclusivism; who defend the environment and seek ways towards the so-called “ecological conversion”, just as Langer did throughout his life. From 1997 to 2024, the Langer Prize recognised 23 candidates from 19 countries on 4 continents, including Syria, Iran, Somalia, Palestine and Israel, often active in contexts of war or democratic transition, whose political and social commitment represented a risk to their personal safety.

Below we outline the participation methods.

Anyone can propose a nomination for the 2025 edition, highlighting a person or organisation consistent with the values of the Prize. Nominations must be sent by 15 July to premio@alexanderlanger.net, accompanied by a brief motivation (maximum one page) and any additional material useful for evaluation (contacts, website, activities carried out).

The winner, chosen by an independent Scientific Committee, will receive a prize of €10,000. The award ceremony will be held during the 2026 edition of “Euromediterranea”, the annual event organised in Bolzano.
