The International Organization for Migration (IOM)
Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration is the main intergovernmental organisation dealing with migration issues. Its mission is to promote orderly migration based on respect for human dignity and to this end it works with governments and civil society.
The IOM Coordination Office for Mediterranean countries is based in Rome. The main activities of the IOM Offices in Italy concern: assistance to vulnerable groups and minors; migration and work; migration and health; migration, climate and development; family reunification; assisted voluntary returns; relocation and resettlement.
