After a long wait of nine years, on 20 September the inauguration will take place of Padua’s first inclusive municipal park, l’Albero del Tesoro, located in Via Siena, in the Basso Isonzo district. The park is a green area of approximately 9,000 square metres, fully inclusive and sensory-based. A true “treasure” of relationships, built step by step with the contribution of children, teachers, and around thirty schools that took part in the co-design process between 2018 and 2019.

This public work was born from a shared dream and today opens to the city as a space where every voice is heard, every step finds its path, and every difference becomes an opportunity. It is not only a park designed to be as accessible as possible, intended for children and adults with or without disabilities, but also a tangible invitation to rethink public spaces as places capable of including, welcoming, and valuing every single person.

The shared objective pursued over these years by the Municipality of Padua and the 17 organisations engaged in the field of disability and inclusion has been to create a place that serves as a true manifesto of hospitality towards every individual’s uniqueness, as well as a replicable example of good practice, fostering intergenerational relationships and the promotion of social cohesion.

Children will be able to play together in the twelve inclusive and accessible play areas; visitors will be able to exercise at the five accessible stations located along the entrance avenue; walk throughout the park and along its perimeter, reaching the newly planted orchard, and rest on the colourful benches scattered among the greenery and along the high-contrast pathways.

The inauguration, as anticipated, will take place on 20 September, from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., and will include a variety of activities, which can be consulted at the following link: Programme of the Inclusive Park Inauguration
