The Region of Veneto supports, also by means of an annual financial contribution, the European Master's managed by the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratization, according to Regional Law 28 December 1998, No. 33:
(as amended by Regional Law 24 December 2004, n.35)
Art. 1 - Objectives
1. The Region of Veneto, according to the principles enounced by articles 3 and 4 of its Statute, and coherently with its continued commitment towards the promotion of a culture of human rights and towards policies of international cooperation and solidarity, is willing to enhance its institutional engagement and reaffirms its European and international vocation, by promoting and supporting the European Master’s in Human Rights and Democratisation, based in Venice.
Art. 2 - Contents of the Master
1. The European Master’s in Human Rights and Democratization is a post-graduate specialisation course in the field of human rights and democratisation. It was made possible thanks to the active support of the European Union, of at least 29 Universities representing the Member States of the European Union, including the University of Padova and the University of Cá Foscari, Venice, and is coordinated by the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC), seated in Venice.
2. The aim of the European Master’s in Human Rights and Democratisation is to form high-level professionals qualified to work as staff members of international organisations and of national, regional and local institutions; as experts engaged in providing technical assistance to developing democratic institutions; as field workers in international peace-operations; as human rights monitors or electoral observers.
3. The specialisation courses which the European Master’s entails are inspired by the principle of interdependence and indivisibility of human rights, democracy, peace and development and are defined by the Master’s governing bodies, as expression of the inter-university and supra-national nature of their partnership.
4. The Region of Veneto is represented in the consultative body of the Master's (Advisory Council) by the President of the Regional Government or by a delegate of the latter.
Art. 3 - Regional Contribution
1. The Region supports the Master’s Programme also financially, through the offer of an annual contribution to the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation.
