Human rights education, particularly formal human rights education, has outstanding importance for the full realization of the aims of promotion and protection of fundamental rights.
In the preamble of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948, human rights education and teaching are indicated as essential paths toward the full realization of human rights.
School is, consequently, an importantly vital world. It operates in an uneasy reality, being related to local and international contexts, that is, in a glocal space, which is very relevant to understanding increasingly complex dynamics and to build cohabitation modalities towards the overcoming of conflicts, whose first condition is intercultural dialogue.
Several reflections and activities have been offered by the Interdepartemental Centre on Human Rights and the Rights of Peoples in cooperation with the UNESCO Chair “Human rights, Democracy and Peace”, and the Region of Veneto to train aware and expert teachers on the concepts, values and national, European and international institutional points of reference which are at the basis of the culture of universally recognised human rights.
