The Chair promotes an integrated system of research, training, information and documentation in the field of human rights and peace. It also contributes to strengthening teaching, research, transfer and dissemination of knowledge and capacity-building in the field of human rights, in particular social, economic and cultural rights.

Maastricht Centre of Human Rights at the Faculty of Law of the Maastricht University

The Centre was established in 1993 to focus on human rights. It has two research programmes: Globalisation and Human Rights and Criminal Law and Criminology in an International Context.  Members also work on publications, conferences and lectures. 

The Centre participates in the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) and it is the member of the Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI).

Netherlands Institute of Human Rights (SIM) at the School of Law of the Utrecht University

The Institute was created in 1981 as a combination of research, training and education and extensive documentation centre. Members are currently working on a research which compares international and regional human rights systems, and the role of various stakeholders in the protection of human rights. The Institute also provides online database about human rights materials.

The Centre participates in the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC) and it is the member of the Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI).
