The Committee for the Cooperation for Development was established by Regional Law No. 55/1999, Art. 14.
The Committee is tasked with participating in writing triennial programmes, annual plans, and interventions of decentered cooperation towards development and international solidarity.
It is composed of:
a) the President of the Regional Government, or one of his delegates, who presides over the Committee;
b) three permanent experts and three substitutes nominated by the Regional Council, of which two are on behalf of the majority and one of the minority;
c) two permanent representatives and a substitute designated in agreement by the universities of the Region of the Veneto;
d) a permanent representative and a substitute designated by the Regional Association of Veneto Municipalities (ANCI);
e) three permanent representatives and one substitute designated in agreement among the entrepreneurial associations of the Veneto;
f) a permanent representative and one substitute designated in agreement between the most representative trade unions in the Veneto;
g) two permanent representatives and two substitutes, of non governmental organizations of the Veneto recognized by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, chosen by the Regional Government;
h) three permanent representatives and three substitutes designated in agreement by volunteer associations identified by the Regional Government, that have been operating for at least three years in the region's territory and that provide for, among statutory aims and in prevalent form, initiatives of cooperation for development;
h bis) three permanent representatives and one substitute designated in agreement by fair trade businesses registered in the regional directory;
i) a permanent member and one substitute designated by the Regional Consulta of immigration, originating from Regional Law 30 January 1990, No. 9;
l) a permanent representative and a substitute designated by the Regional Union of the Provinces of Veneto (URPV).
From 1992 to 1999, The Region of the Veneto helped implement the previous law, Regional Law 16 April 1992, n. 18 "Institution of regional funding for interventions in international solidarity". Since 1992, implementation plans and reports on activities conducted have been produced annually.
