Call for Applications for the 41st Cycle (A.Y. 2025/26)

The Ph.D Programme in Human Rights, Society and Multi-level Governance is a three-year, interdisciplinary academic programme jointly offered by the University of Padova (Italy) with Tangaza University College (Kenya) and run by an international board. The administrative structure is the Human Rights Centre “Antonio Papisca” of the University of Padova.

The doctoral degree programme is an interdisciplinary and cross-cutting course of research and study on the topic of human rights and sustainable development.

The main streams of study and research on which the programme is developed are:

Human rights protection and advocacy from a multi-level governance perspective.
Inclusion and psychological growth.
Climate justice, political agroecology, and sustainable development.
Contradictions, challenges, and potential risks of the European Union’s commitment to its foundational values and principles in its external action.
Human rights in the era of artificial intelligence.
Social transformation in relation to security, peacebuilding, and sustainable development in Africa.
People analytics in SMEs: a data driven approach to promote welfare and inclusion.

The programme includes learning, research and training activities, is open to different approaches and methodologies, and has global geographical scope. The language of the programme is English.
