AHRI 2022 Conference Call for papers: deadline 31 March 2022

The 2022 Conference of the Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI) is dedicated to Technology and the future of human rights. The event will take place on 2-3 September 2022 on the Future Africa campus University of Pretoria, South Africa (and online), hosted by the Centre for Human Rights of the University of Pretoria in collaboration with the Center for Human Rights Science, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, United States, and the Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI).

The conference will be focused on the relations between technology and human rights: the impact of technological development on human rights and equity, surveillance and human rights, global availability of the fruits of technological developments, technologies influence on the inequality mitigation and on the efficiency of justice systems.

The organizers invite anyone interested in the above-mentioned issues to send an abstract (or panel proposal) under one of the established tracks: Surveillance and vulnerability, Survival and sustainability, Democratic participation and accountability.

The deadline for submission of abstracts and panel suggestions is 31 March 2022. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words and should be submitted together with a max 100-word bio via Submittable.

The Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI), is a network of over 80 (and growing) member institutes that carries out research and educational activities in the field of human rights. The member institutes are from over 30 different countries spanning all continents. AHRI’s objective is to bring together human rights researchers from across the disciplines, to facilitate the exchange of ideas and collaboration, and to promote research, education and discussion in the field of human rights. AHRI is supportive of PhD researchers and the facilitation of exchange between the different member institutes.
