FRA: New indicators towards the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) has launched a report with indicators about the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The document is organized in six chapters and aims at covering the main aspects of the implementation of the CRPD at the national level, by providing specific data to support the work of national institutions and pointing the challenges and ways forward.

The guide is based not only on the CRPD but also on the work of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the EU Framework (European Parliament, the European Ombuds institution, FRA and the European Disability Forum).

Although the document does not target the complaint mechanisms nor the compliance with the Paris Principles, it is a reference for the development of strong strategies for policy intervention at the national level, in observance of article 33 of the CRPD.
