The Launch of the Covid-19 Disability Rights Monitor Dashboard

The Covid-19 Disability Rights Monitor, a coalition of seven organizations engaged in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, launched, on the 2nd of June 2020, the Covid-19 DRM Dashboard.

The dashboard was born to collect experiences of persons with disabilities during the pandemic and to understand to which extent States have responded to the impacts of the virus on this specific population, trying to raise awareness of the need to promote actions to protect human rights.

Overall, looking at the information provided, it seems that many countries failed to adopt disability-inclusive responses and guarantee protections for fundamental rights, as it is enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The dashboard has been created thanks to a global survey, available in 22 languages, addressed to governments and national monitoring bodies, which collected 1600 responses from more than 120 countries worldwide since the 20 April 2020 and will be open until the 31 July 2020.
