The fourth cycle of seminars on the theme "Urban Security and Human Rights" is promoted by the Interdepartmental Centre on Human Rights and the Right of Peoples of the University of Padua and by the Police Headquarters of Padua in the framework of the activities provided for in the Memorandum of Understandings signed in September 2009. This memorandum provides for the realization of activities of information, education and awareness on themes concerning human rights, intercultural dialogue and security with the participation of students and professors of the Master's Degree Course in Institutions and Policies of Human Rights and Peace and staff members of the State Police.
The meetings cycle is coherent with United Nations and Council of Europe's programmes devoted to the human rights training of teachers, public servants, businessmen, justice and security employees.
The cycle of seminars is aimed at, among others, making the training experience of the Master's Degree in Institutions and Policies of Human rights and peace always more professionalising and at developing positive synergies among two institutions which are daily committed in the promotion of the respect of national and international law, human rights, the rule of law, democratic principles and non discrimination. Thus, Police and University work together to promote a genuine civic education intended as a priority way to build a safe, polite and convivial city up.
The group of learners is made up by Police officers and students of the Master's Degree in Institutions and Policies of Human Rights and Peace of the University of Padua.
The seminars will be held between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The cycle of seminars is promoted in coopeation with the Police Headquarters of Padua and the UNESCO Chair "Human rights, democracy and peace of the University of Padua, with the patronage of the Region of Veneto and of the Municipality of Padua.
