Scholars at Risk seminar series: ‘Human Rights in Afghanistan: Past, Present, and Future’

Scholars at Risk at the University of Padova, in collaboration with the SPGI (Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies of the University of Padua) and the Elena Cornaro Centre for Gender Studies, organised seminar series entitled ‘Human Rights in Afghanistan: Past, Present, and Future’ with Murtaza Mohiqi, a visiting scholar at SPGI, University of Padova. The series will undertake an analysis of the existing factors that affect, positively or negatively, the realisation of human rights in Afghanistan. Mr Mohiqi will present his research on this matter and his personal experiences.

The seminar series will take place in April and May 2022 in dual-mode: in the Palazzo Wollemborg at Via del Santo 28, Padova, and online through Zoom (https://unipd.zoom.us/j/84600475043). The first meeting will be on 6 April 2022, focusing on the History of Human Rights in Afghanistan. The following seminars will bring up such topics as Freedom of Speech, Media and Assembly in Afghanistan (April 20), Afghan Women and Children Rights: A fragile hope (May 4), The Role of Nongovernmental Organisations and Governmental Bodies in Supporting Human Rights (May 18), and Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights (May 25).
