International Conference "Data-driven human rights research", University of Padova, 9-10 November 2020
- Event date: 9-10 November 2020
- Venue: University of Padova (online Webinar on Zoom)
The Human Rights Centre “Antonio Papisca”, the UNESCO Chair "Human Rights, Democracy and Peace" and the Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies of the University of Padova are organising the annual international human rights research conference. The 2020 theme is “Data-driven human rights research”.
The conference aims to tackle, from a multi-disciplinary perspective, the challenge of “measuring” human rights and producing evidence-based and data-driven knowledge and research, with the overall goal of promoting research and stimulating thoughts about the normative/factual fault lines, the chasm between law and reality, not only in terms of compliance gaps, but also as opportunities for expanding and attuning the legal, ethical and philosophical articulations of current human rights narratives.
The event is organised in cooperation with other international human rights research institutes, including the Human Rights Consortium (School of Advanced Studies, University of London, UK), the School of Global Studies (University of Gothenburg, Sweden); the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Human Security (University of Graz, Austria); and the Institute of International Studies (University of Wroclaw, Poland).
The live-streaming of the Plenary sessions is available on the Facebook pages of the Human Rights Centre and of the HRG.
