United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)

On Tuesday, 8 May 2012, from 10:30 to 12:30 at the Library of the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padua a conference, held by Dr. Manuel Manonelles, was organized on the theme "The recent development of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations”.

The conference has been realized within the activities of the Archive Peace Human Rights and is carried out in the framework of the teaching course "International organization for human rights and peace” within the Master’s Degree Course in Institutions and Policies of Human Rights and Peace.

Manuel Manonelles from June 2005 is Director of the Office of Barcelona Culture of Peace Foundation, also is co-responsible for coordinating the programme and the publication of the Global Report on the Culture of Peace, as well as other programs and activities at international and local level, as the "The Peace Culture in United Nations" and "Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue and Alliance of Civilizations".
From July 2005 to December 2006 he was Special Adviser of the co-President of the UN High Level Group (HLG) for the Alliance of Civilizations.
From September 1999 to July 2007, he was Deputy Coordinator of the Secretariat of the World Forum of Civil Society Networks and oversaw the area of political affairs, relations with intergovernmental organizations and NGOs, as well as the strategic development of the Global Campaign to Reform the Internationals Institutions. He was a founder member of the International Council of the World Social Forum.
