Diritti in presa diretta (Rights in live recording): screenings on human rights themes and meetings with young Italian directors, Padua, December 2010

In the framework of the initiative DIRITTI+UMANI 2010 (Rights+Human 2010), we point out the season of movies and documentaries “Diritti in presa diretta” (Rights in live recording) realized by the ADUSU, Associazione Diritti Umani – Sviluppo Umano (Association Human Rights – Human Development) with the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padua.

The screenings - particularly addressed to the students of the Degree Course in Political Science, International Relations, Human Rights and of the Master's Degree Course in Institutions and Policies of Human Rights and Peace - are focused on human rights themes and are accompanied by presentations and discussions with young Italian directors.

The season starts Thursday 2 December with the movie “20 cigarettes” (directed by Aureliano Amadei – Italy, 2010), winner of the prize for the section “Controcampo Italiano” (Italian reverse shot) of the Venice Film Festival. It tells the events occurred to the director when he was involved into the attack of Nassiriya.

The season continues Thursday 9 December with “Nigùri” (directed by Antonio Martino – Italy, 2010), a documentary which won the prize as the Best Documentary of the “Hai visto mai?” Festival, and which describes the little village of Sant’Anna in Calabria – where is based one of the biggest temporary reception camp in Europe – invaded by the “Nigùri” (black people in calabrian dialect) underlining the fear for diversities and the distrust for the reception of immigrants, who risk to be transformed in slaves while waiting for a valid document of identification, as happened in Rosarno.

The season ends Thursday 15 December with “Shooting Muhammad” (directed by Luca Cusani and Francesco Cannito – Italy, 2009), winner of the journalistic prize Ilaria Alpi “for the innovative language with whom it represents an history of discrimination in the university of an Arabic colony into the Israeli borders, marked with rap music”.

The screenings will be performed at “Teatro Ruzante” in Riviera Tito Livio, from 17.00 to 19.30.
