Global Campus of Human Rights and National University of Timor-Lorosa’e (UNTL): partnership towards human rights

The year of 2022 marked the end of a four-year academic partnership between Italy and East Timor to mainstream human rights in Southeast Asia. The outcome of the project is summarized in the book “Our Human Rights, Our Future! An Introduction to Human Rights in Southeast Asia and Timor-Leste”, published in English, Portuguese and Tetun, which was designed to discuss human rights under the ASEAN perspective.

In addition, the joint research led to the creation of a new undergraduate course at National University of Timor-Lorosa’e (UNTL) specifically about human rights in Southeast Asia and East Timor. Students and professors interested in enrolling at the course shall rely on the book as a powerful learning source, since it was developed not only inside the academic community through the international partnership, but also by Timorese CSOs.

The book is available online along with video-lessons and PowerPoint slides, all to form an inclusive, digital and innovative tool for UNTL and everyone interested in learning more about the subject.
