OHCHR: 2024 Social Forum on “The Contribution of Financing for Development to the Advancement of All Human Rights” , 31 October-1 November 2024
The 2024 Social Forum, hosted by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), will take place on October 31 and November 1, 2024 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. It will focus on “The Contribution of Financing for Development to the Advancement of All Human Rights” and will emphasize the importance of sustainable financial strategies to address inequalities and promote development globally. The Forum will adress pressing issues such as the debt crisis, poverty and climate change that affect developing countries. Last but not least, it will explore innovative solutions to support the realization of all human rights including economic and social rights.
The Social Forum encourages multiple stakeholder participation, drawing representatives from governments, international organizations, civil society, academia and the private sector. Discussions will focus on equitable financial systems, access to financing for developing countries and partnerships that prioritize sustainable development. The Forum provides a unique space for dialogue, cooperation and the exchange of best practices, aiming in this way to identify concrete steps for the improvement of human rights through better financial support mechanisms. Further side events and discussions will take place at the Forum's sessions, ensuring an inclusive and comprehensive approach.
Participants are invited to register by 25 October 2024. The forum will provide a platform for exploring how international financing frameworks can foster an equitable distribution of resources, thus reducing inequality and promoting human rights across the globe.
