Biennial International Conference Towards the Foundation of a Universal Economy based on Human Rights

From October 16th to 18th, 2025, in Assisi, the Biennial International Conference Towards the Foundation of a Universal Economy Based on Human Rights will be held. The conference emerged from the academic and research activities promoted by the UNESCO Chair in Economic Systems and Human Rights of the National University of La Plata, and is an event that takes place every two years, bringing together university professors, researchers, economists, policymakers, clergy, and UNESCO representatives from around the world. 

The conference will open on Thursday, October 16, with greetings from regional and municipal authorities, including Prof. Stefania Proietti, President of the Umbria Region, and Dr. Valter Stoppini, Mayor of Assisi. Messages from international figures, including Gustavo Merino (UNESCO) and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, will set the tone for an event centered on peace, justice, and sustainable development.  

The closing of the conference will be Saturday, October 18, and on this day, the focus will be on the environmental and educational dimensions of human rights, followed by an open debate at the end of the conference. There is a possibility to join the conference remotely or by attending in person.
