The European External Action Service (EEAS) is the EU’s diplomatic service. Assists the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in conducting the CFSP/ CSDP and ensuring coherence of the EU’s external action in his role as both President of the Council for Foreign Affairs and Vice-President of the Commission.

It has an active European Union Special Representative for human rights, whose task is, inter alia, to strengthen dialogue with all actors involved and relevant to the EU’s human rights policy, including, of course, international organisations, states but also civil society organisations.
