Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings

The functions of the Special Representative are to ensure coordination of OSCE’s efforts to combat trafficking in human beings across the three dimensions of security covered by the Organisation; to strengthen coordination among member States’ authorities and between the OSCE and other relevant organisations; to give greater political prominence to the fight against trafficking in human beings, both as a serious human rights violation and as potential transnational threat; to assist States in their cooperation activities; to provide legal advice and technical assistance; and to cooperate with national bodies established to coordinate and monitor anti-trafficking activities.

As part of their mandate, the Special Representative may conduct official visits to OSCE States, following which a summary report is issued containing the Special Representative’s observations and recommendations on the implementation of OSCE commitments in this area.
