International Zero Evictions Marathon 2025, University of Padova, 31 October 2025

The Second International Marathon of testimonies, talks, science, and art against forced evictions, 31 October 2025

On October 31st 2025, the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padova, Italy, in cooperation with the International Alliance of Inhabitants (IAI), will hold the ‘International Zero Evictions Marathon’ as part of the World Zero Evictions Days (October 2025).

After the success of the first edition (October 11, 2024), this second Marathon will further amplify the voices of resistance to social injustices from across the globe.

Movements, universities, and associations are preparing for a new stage in the global mobilisation for the right to housing. Special guest: the UN special rapporteur.

The 2025 ZEM will feature

live sessions and recorded pitches and videos across time zones;
pictures, posters, music, performances, multimedia installations… for an online and onsite exhibition.

The 2025 ZEM will focus on:

Attacks on human rights defenders fighting for land and housing
Massive displacement crises linked to neoliberal extractivist policies and distorted measures to counter the climate crisis
‘Domicide’ as a war strategy against human and peoples’ rights
Rising homelessness worldwide

Our goals for the 2025 ZEM are:

Increasing commitment against forced evictions and homelessness as human rights violations
Addressing the impact of AI on the housing market and policies
Supporting global solidarity networks of housing rights activists
Advocating for the implementation at all levels of housing policies grounded in human rights
