On 20th November 2019, on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Human Rights Centre “Antonio Papisca” of the University of Padova organized a celebration in Aula Magna “Galileo Galilei” of Palazzo Bo.
The event started with a video message by Michelle Bachelet, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, along with the remarks of the Mayor of Padova, Sergio Giordani, the Director of the Human Rights Centre of the University of Padova “Antonio Papisca”, Gabriella Salviulo, and the Assessor for Peace, Human Rights and International Cooperation of the Municipality of Padova, Francesca Benciolini.
Last, but not least, the presence of the representatives of the civil society was of ultimate importance for a wider comprehension of how child rights are protected.
The ceremony was also enriched by the presence of various students, from various schools of Padova, who presented their projects about the issue, which was the heart of the event, and brought their personal as well as fundamental points of view. The orchestra of the "Scuola media Cesarotti dell'Istituto Comprensivo di Selvazzano Dentro" opened and closed the ceremony.
The final part of the ceremony was dedicated to the reading of the text “Noi, diritti umani. Rappresentazione di dignità umana et di pace” by Antonio Papisca (founder of the Human Rights Centre), with the voice of the director Lorenzo Maragoni.
At the end of the day, Arianna Saulini, the Coordinator of the CRC Group of Save the Children, presented the 10th update report of the monitoring of the Convention on the Rights of the Childhood and Adolescence in Italy.
