The University of Oxford will host the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit from 2nd to 8th June 2025. This landmark international event brings together leading voices in science, policy, activism, and advocacy to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the intersection between climate change and human rights.

Organised in collaboration with global partners, the Summit will foster critical dialogue on how climate change disproportionately affects vulnerable communities and how a human rights-based approach can drive just and inclusive climate action. The event will feature high-level panels, interactive sessions, and keynote addresses from renowned climate scientists, Indigenous leaders, youth activists, policymakers, and representatives from civil society and intergovernmental organisations.  This initiative follows the recognition that climate change is not only an environmental crisis but also a profound threat to fundamental human rights—including the rights to health, housing, food, water, and life itself. The Summit seeks to catalyse transformative solutions that centre dignity, equity, and global solidarity by framing climate change as a human rights issue.

The University of Oxford has positioned this event as a platform to amplify voices from the Global South, promote intersectional perspectives, and deepen cooperation between academic institutions, governments, and communities on the front lines of the climate crisis. The Summit will also explore strategies to strengthen science diplomacy and legal frameworks that uphold environmental and social justice.  Participants can expect thematic sessions on topics such as climate migration, the role of youth in climate governance, Indigenous environmental stewardship, and mechanisms for climate finance and accountability.
