Opportunities for refugees at the University of Padua
The University of Padua encourages and participate in various initiatives for receiving refugees, asylum seekers and persons in a refugee-like situation.
The Academic Senate of the University of Padua has encouraged students, professors and university staff to discuss and examine in-depth issues related to migration, rescuing and receiving people with migration backgrounds. The aim is to promote the full respect of human rights, which is a core value of the University.
In specific, the University of Padua participates international initiatives to provide a safe and inclusive environment to refugees, including Scholars at Risk (SAR), Arqus Enabling Refugees, Manifesto for Inclusive Universities, and National Coordination for the Evaluation of Refugee Qualifications – CVNQR. In addition, the university has provided 100 scholarships for the academic year 2019/2020 to refugee students and students with international protection. Recently, a new scholarship for refugees from Ethiopia, UNICORE, is open for application.
The University of Padua, in cooperation with international, national and regional agencies, provides refugees, asylum seeker and persons in a refugee-like situation safe and inclusive environments for studying, conducting research, and living.
