Region of Veneto: participation in the European project "Friends Online" (DAPHNE programme III)

The Regional Committee for the Communications (Co.re.com) of the Region of Veneto, the Regional Council and Government's body for communication and local media advice, guarantee and management, participates in the European Project Friends Online of the DAPHNE III programme.

This project, which is aimed at fighting cyber bulling through the implementation of a new attractive model, both online and offline, began in December 2009 and will be concluded in December 2011.

The model will be spread over Europe and will contribute in an effective way to:

• Raise awareness among young people, children and adults about the problem of cyber bullying;
• Challenging limiting norms and focusing on how integrity & children's rights can contrast the insults and discrimination that take place in schools, in children's and young people´s spare time & online;
• Make young people and children aware of how they themselves can be part in creating this safer communication.

The Co.re.com of Veneto is realising this project in partnership with the University of Valencia, the Romanian NGO SREP, she Swedish organisation FRIENDS and the Municipality of Partille (Sweden) which is the Project Leader.
