Time for Peace, Time to Care, Perugia - Assisi, 9-11 October 2020

On 11 October 2020, the XXIV PerugiAssisi March becomes a human chain of 25 km along the road between Perugia and Assisi. The construction of the Human Chain will begin at 10.00 a.m. and will be completed at 2.00 p.m. All participants, after registering online, will receive an indication of where to go. It is necessary to bring one or more ropes (minimum 3/4 meters) to be knotted to the wires brought by the other participants.

Participants will be spaced at least two metres apart but joined by the rope that each will carry and tie to that of the others. A thread that symbolizes the commitment of peacebuilders to interweave human relationships and relationships representing the new social fabric we want for our future.

In a time of distrust, indifference and great existential challenges, this year's theme for Peace Week is "Time for Peace - Time to Care": developing the capacity to care builds the idea of peace and lays the foundations for a better world.

On the 75th anniversary of the United Nations Charter, the Human Chain will conclude the "3 Days of Peace" which will take place in Perugia on 9, 10 and 11 October 2020. Several events will be dedicated to the promotion of the culture of Care, an alternative to the indifference, individualism, selfishness and competition that afflict the world in which we live. The aim of the activities is to seek solutions to the problems that lie ahead and to rebuild a vast web of healing relationships between people, communities and institutions from the city to the UN, in a common horizon: 2030. Care will help us to redefine education and the economy by combating inequalities, the many forms of poverty, social exclusion and neglect and environmental devastation.
