The Children's and Adolescents' Rights Week, is held in Milan from May 26 to June 1, 2025, is an opportunity to promote the rights of children and adolescents, as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This year, the focus is on Article 2, which guarantees every child's right to non-discrimination. The principle of non-discrimination stipulates that all rights affirmed in the Convention apply to all children and adolescents "without distinction of any kind, irrespective of the child's or his or her parent's or legal guardian's race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national, ethnic or social origin, property, disability, birth or other status."
The initiative, promoted by the Guarantor of Children's and Adolescents' Rights of the Municipality of Milan, includes various activities and events to involve the entire city.
The complete program for the week is available on the Municipality of Milan's website.
The Children's Festival took place at Castello Sforzesco from May 24 to 27, were days full of activities including games, educational workshops, guided tours, and music, all in the spirit of the right to inclusion and culture.
During the festival, Castello Sforzesco transformed into a child-friendly world. Its courtyards, porticoes, and museums came alive with free activities.
In the Rocchetta Courtyard, continuous cycle workshops took place, where children could build, color, invent characters, and express their imagination through constructions, drawings, and creations using natural and recycled materials. The Courtyard of Arms hosted traditional games like spinning tops and relay races, promoting skills and socialization.
The days were enriched by itinerant storytellers who, with colorful costumes and musical instruments, enchanted the audience with fairy tales and legends. Every corner of the castle offered surprises and learning opportunities.
Thematic guided tours in the porticoes and museums revealed the history of armors, musical instruments, and Renaissance decorations, using language suitable for children. There were also photo opportunities in the set arranged under the Elephant Portico, where every child became the protagonist of their own story amidst costumes, scenic frames, and free smiles.
Other initiatives will be implemented in civic museums, civic libraries, and other city venues, with guided tours, workshops, and activities for everyone.
