Council of Europe: Giuseppe Palmisano of Italy has been re-elected as President of the European Committee of Social Rights
The 304th session of the European Committee of Social Rights of the Council of Europe was held from 21 to 24 January 2019 in Strasbourg. The members of the Committee, on this occasion, re-elected Giuseppe Palmisano of Italy to the Presidency.
The European Committee of Social Rights of the Council of Europe (ECSR) was established pursuant to art. 25 of the European Social Charter of 1961 for the purpose of examining the reports sent by States parties and determining whether the legislation and practice of these States are in compliance with the rules of the European Social Charter, its Protocols and the (revised) European Social Charter of 1996. The Committee is composed by 15 independent experts elected by the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers for a period of six years, renewable once.
