Etica Sgr, in collaboration with the Human Rights Centre “Antonio Papisca” of the University of Padua and the Finanza Etica Foundation, is launching an important initiative to promote peace as a fundamental human right titled "Peace as a fundamental right of individuals and peoples". The project will involve 20 experts from academia and organizations active in these fields, to analyze the path of recognition of the right to peace and formulate concrete recommendations to strengthen it.

The research will be structured in four phases, with seminars planned at the University of Padua to share results and engage in constructive dialogue. The project will systematically analyze the contribution of international institutions, evaluate the commitment of Italian local authorities, explore the role of cross-cutting themes such as ethical economy and the environment, and finally develop concrete proposals for governments, the European Union, and educational institutions. The goal is to transform peace from an ethical aspiration to a fully enforceable right. This evolution would entail significant implications for States, which would have to renounce their right to wage war and actively engage in peacebuilding. The ultimate goal is to promote global disarmament, strengthening the role of the United Nations and redirecting resources towards crucial sectors such as education, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

This project represents a concrete step towards a future of peace, in line with Etica Sgr's long-standing commitment in the field of ethical finance and disarmament. The initiative aims to redefine the value of peace from a legal, cultural, and political perspective, placing the dignity of the person at the center and considering peace not as an abstract aspiration, but as a fundamental right to be recognized and concretely realized.
