Students, University of Padova

The European Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA) has officially opened its call for applications for the upcoming academic year 2026/2027, offering students from around the world the opportunity to pursue advanced, interdisciplinary training in human rights and democratic governance.

The call for applications remains open till the 1st of February; however, applicants from non-EU countries are strongly encouraged to submit their applications early, taking into account the time required for visa processing and verification of enrollment documents.

The EMA programme, coordinated by the Global Campus of Human Rights, brings together a unique network of European universities and academic institutions. Designed to respond to contemporary global challenges, the programme equips students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills and critical perspectives needed to work effectively in the field of human rights at local, national and international levels. The first semester takes place in Venezia and the second one at an EMA participating university situated in the EU or the United Kingdom. After finishing the studies, the students will be awarded the title “European Master's Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation” worth 60 ETCS.

Applicants are expected to meet the following minimum criteria:

Possess a university degree of high academic standard in a field relevant to human rights, such as Law, Social Sciences, or Humanities, with a minimum of 180 ECTS (Bachelor’s or equivalent). Demonstrate certified proficiency in English at least at the B2 level. Accepted certifications include: IELTS (minimum score 6), TOEFL iBT (minimum score 80), or Cambridge exams (minimum score 160–179), obtained within three years before the programme start date.
