Summer/Winter School

Global Campus of Human Rights launches the CHRA Summer School on Cinema, Human Rights and Advocacy (31 August – 9 September 2026)

The Global Campus of Human Rights is promoting the new edition of the Summer School on Cinema, Human Rights and Advocacy (CHRA), an advanced training initiative focusing on the use of visual media for human rights promotion and social change.

The 2026 Summer School will take place in Venice, Italy, from 31 August to 9 September 2026, in the framework of the Venice International Film Festival. The CHRA Summer School is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of the intersection between human rights, film, digital media, and video advocacy. The programme offers a multidisciplinary learning environment aimed at equipping participants with practical and analytical tools to effectively communicate human rights issues through visual storytelling.

The course provides participants with opportunities to attend film screenings and engage with professionals from the film industry alongside leading experts in the human rights field. The training combines lectures, workshops, working groups and individual tutorials, fostering peer learning and critical reflection. The Summer School is open to professionals, researchers, filmmakers, activists and students interested in strengthening their capacity to use audio-visual tools for human rights work. The initiative is organised within the activities of the Global Campus of Human Rights, a worldwide network of more than 100 universities committed to advancing human rights and democracy through higher education and training.
