University of Seville: Summer School on Arts, Human Rights & Social Justice, June 11 - 16 2026
The University of Seville will host the 2026 Summer School from June 11 to 16, offering a joint program developed by the Human Rights Research and Education Centre (HRREC) and the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Seville.
This interdisciplinary course explores the powerful intersection between the arts and human rights, examining how artistic expression can serve both as a manifestation of fundamental freedoms and as a practical tool for promoting social justice. Participants will gain frameworks to identify how human rights initiatives can be strengthened through the arts, while exchanging perspectives on artistic works that successfully,or unsuccessfully, communicate critical messages to the public.
The program recognizes that the arts offer a unique space for collective catharsis, healing, and freedom of expression, values that repressive regimes have historically sought to suppress. At a time when the core principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are being challenged across the globe, this course invites students to reflect, debate, and envision alternative futures.
Applications to be submitted through the University of Seville portal, deadline 30 April.
