Human Rights Council: the 58th Regular Session has been concluded after adopting 32 resolutions

The Human Rights Council concluded its 58th Regular Session, held between 24 February and 4 April 2025, by adopting 32 resolutions, extending 16 country-specific and thematic mandates, and establishing an open-ended intergovernmental working group to address various human rights issues and to draft an international legally binding instrument on the human rights of older persons. 

The adopted resolutions cover a wide range of topics, including the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Syria, North Korea, Belarus, Myanmar, Iran, and Ukraine. The Council also extended 13 country mandates and several mandates for special rapporteurs on issues such as freedom of religion, the right to food, and the protection of human rights while countering terrorism. Additionally, decisions were made on matters like the impact of unilateral coercive measures on the right to health, the use of neurotechnologies, cultural rights, and the impact of foreign debt on human rights.

Furthermore, the Council nominated three members of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and adopted ad referendum the draft report of the fifth-eighth session.
Finally, the next regular session (59th) of the Human Rights Council is planned to be from 16 June to 11 July 2025.
