International Conference Human Rights: Describing a Process of Cultural Transformation

Several well-known professors from all over the world will participate in the International Conference Human Rights: Describing a Process of Cultural Transformation, which takes place from 21 to 23 May at Abbaye de Neumünster in Luxembourg organised by UNESCO Chair in Human Rights.

On the first day of the Conference Prof. Samuel Moyn from Harvard University will present about the Human Rights in the Age of Equity.

On 22 May Prof. Lynn A. Hunt (University of California), Sibylle Van der Walt (University of Luxembourg), Mikael Rask Madsen (University of Copenhagen) and Jan Eckel (University of Freiburg) will talk about the history and evolution of Human Rights, while Andreas Pettenkofer (University of Erfurt), Prof. Jan Wouters (University of Leuven) will focus on the present of Human Rights. Within their speeches, Prof. Guy Haarscher (Catholic University College of Bruges), Prof. Bill Bowring (University of London) and Prof. Tom Hadden (Queen’s University Belfast) will concentrate on the theory of Human Rights.

On 23 May Prof. George Ulrich from Riga Graduate School of Law will examine the skepticism connected to Human Rights and Prof. Attracta Ingram from University College Dublin will talk about the relation between Human Rights and state sovereignty. As a closure professors from different institutions will present about Human Rights in Africa.

Jean-Paul Lehners  from University of Luxembourg is responsible for introducing and concluding the whole conference.
