International Conference on National Human Rights Institutions in Southeast Asia: Call for Abstracts

The International Conference on National Human Rights Institutions in Southeast Asia: Challenges of Protection, in programme for the 13th-14th July 2017 has extended the deadline for the Call for Abstracts to the 15th April 2017.

The Asia Centre invites the submission of abstracts on the role of national human rights institutions (NHRIs) in Southeast Asia in protecting human rights. Submissions are welcomed from specialists in this field, including by former and current practitioners in the region’s NHRIs on 4 various themes: NHRIs, international human rights system and networks, NHRIs in the national context, NHRIs and regional human rights system and networks, and NHRIs and human rights protection.

The International Conference aims to convene researchers working on human rights in Southeast Asia, to exchange views among the authors researching the NHRIs in Southeast Asia, to contribute to the academic literature on NHRIs and human rights in Southeast Asia, and to publish the outcomes in a special issue journal and/or an edited book.

Anyone wanting to submit an abstract or poster presentation for the conference should follow these guidelines: abstract should be written in English, of 300 to 350 words or can submit an idea for a poster presentation in word or PDF format. There will be limited space available for 4 to 5 poster presentations. A 60×80 cm poster will be printed and displayed during the conference. Submissions must be sent together with a short bio to contact@asiacentre.co.th by the 15th April 2017 and final papers and posters are due 1 June 2017.
