Nearly 3,400 signatures to withdraw amendments that delay INDIRE's special educational support courses by one year

Almost 3,400 people (including school and university teachers, school principals, parents, members of associations for people with disabilities, and citizens) have signed a document from the Unitary Movement for School and Social Inclusion (MUISS) asking the signatory Senators to withdraw the amendments to Decree Law 71/24 that delay the completion of training courses for special educational support activated by the National Institute for Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research (INDIRE) by one year.

Originally, Decree 71/2024 provided that specialization through INDIRE courses would be possible until December 31, 2025. With the recently approved amendments, the deadline of December 31, 2025, is replaced by December 31, 2026.

In line with this, the Italian Federation for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Their Families (FISH) has expressed “concern about those amendments and [...] we invite the Senators who submitted them to withdraw them and to open a dialogue with our Federation,” emphasising the need to ensure that schools have staff and teachers who are adequately trained and competent, with the aim of guaranteeing a quality and inclusive education for all.
