New UN Global Compact strategy 2021-2023
The UN Global Compact Board has approved the UN Global Compact Strategy 2021–2023. The three-year strategic plan is directed at accelerating and scaling the global collective impact of business by upholding the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and delivering the SDGs through accountable companies and ecosystems that enable change.
The strategy outlines five key shifts to boost business action and impact, including accountability of companies, balanced growth of local and regional networks, measurable impact in prioritised areas, harnessing the collective action of small and medium enterprises, and finally, strong and active engagement with the UN and its partners.
The United Nations Global Compact is a special initiative of the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. It is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, uniting businesses for a better future. The initiative comprises more than 12,000 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries, and 69 Local Networks.
