OECD: Italy in the top five for foreign aid to developing countries

The Development Co-operation Directorate of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) at the end of 2016 has published a final report about the final statistics on resource flows for the year 2015. With over 4 billion USD in 2015, Italy has increased its foreign aid of 18,9% compared to the 0,19% in 2014 and deployed in foreign aid to developing countries the 0,22% of its gross national income (GNI).

In the OECD spreadsheet Italy is the fifth among G7 countries, after the United Kingdom (0,70%), Germany (0,52%), France (0,37%) and Canada (0,28%), passing Japan (0,21%) and the United States (0,17%).

The OECD was created in1960 as an organization dedicated to economic development with 18 European countries plus the United States and Canada. Now the Member countries are 35 and include not only advanced countries but also emerging countries like Chile, Mexico and Turkey with the goal to build a stronger, cleaner and fairer world.
