Peace Mission: Perugia-Assisi returns to Jerusalem from 27th October to 3rd November 2012
The March Perugia-Assisi moves to the Middle East, Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, into the centre of the longest conflicts of our times: from 27th of October to 3rd of November 2012 a peace mission takes place in the footsteps of Giorgio Lapira, twenty years after the death of father Ernesto Balducci, master of peace.
Over 200 students, teachers, local administrators, sportsmen, journalists, representatives of groups and associations as well as citizens from 90 different Italian cities participate in the Mission.
For one week, participants will visit different cities and talk with the Israeli and Palestinian people to hear their opinions in order to understand what is possible and necessary to do by Italy and Europe as well as what citizens and institutions can do.
The “Peace Mission” in Israel and Palestine is promoted by the Italian National Coordinating Body of Local Authorities for Peace and Human Rights (Coordinamento Nazionale degli Enti Locale per la Pace e i Diritti Umani), with the patronage of Andrea Riccardi, Minister for International Cooperation and Integration, in cooperation with the European Network of Local Authorities dfor Peace in the Middle East (Rete Europea degli Enti Locali per La Pace in Medio Oriente), the Region of Umbria and the Peace Roundable (Tavola della pace).
