September 13th 2015: The Dolomites Embrace Human Rights
On September 13th 2015, the Tre Cime mountains in the Dolomites will be the setting for a massive ‘human chain’ – an embrace for human rights to establish a world of Freedom, Justice, and Peace for everywhere and among everybody.
100 years ago the First World War was fought in these mountains. On September 13th it is where 6,000 people will meet and 12,000 hands unite to call for protection for every man, woman, and child on the planet. In today’s world people are being denied their fundamental human rights: the right to freedom of expression, the right to food, the right to health, the right to an education, the right to live a life free from torture, and the right to adequate housing. Most importantly, though, people are being denied the rights to live in freedom, in justice and in peace.
The Human Chain is divided into 10 sectors, named with 10 countries in which human rights are violated. Upon arrival of the Three Peaks, the day of the event, each participant will be assigned and accompanied by one of the sectors and will become part of the chain.
